GRAN FONDO WORLD TOUR
#granfondo restarts the season with @granfondoworldtour calendar.
Multisegur Volta als Ports d’Andorra , 9th August 2020 was the way back to the roads for Gran Fondo Calendar in south Europe following the health and safety protocol marked by Andorra Government.
This is good news to hear that roads are again open for Gran Fondo Events and setting few adaptations as social distance, split start lines in 4 different locations with 100 cyclists at each start line and individual start (time trial format) each minute, warranty 400 participants event completed in Andorra. Additional regulations were stablished in time check with hands free system, QR codes validation and Aid stations with individual bags for each participant where the cyclists may collect the food and beverage as self-service system with an individual cue; a system that may work because timing was stopped during aid stations then no stress and hurry time on this parts.
Talking about results, Lydia Puyals was the winner in 4 stars circuit female category and in men was the South African Pro Cyclist of Burgos BH team Willie Smit (resident of Andorra) the fastest to complete 4 mountain pass and finishing in top of Ordino Arcalis Grandvalira Resorts, the last Tour de France stage arrival 4 years ago, where Tom Dumolain caught a great stage win.
Weather was good until noon for participants, and rain arrive for the last participants forcing them to cover with rain coats to arrive of course wet at arrival line.
Multisegur Volta als Ports means the first stop of Gran Fondo World Tour®️ calendar in Andorra and open the door to 2021 international event to challenge #granfondo fans to some of “La Vuelta” or “Tour” top arrival lines complemented with a shopping low tax country with excellent hotel and hosting offer for summer and winter.
